On Demand Support to Grow Your Digital Transformation Objectives

Digital Project Managers, Business Analysts and Product Managers don't come cheap. Find out why freelance might be the ideal alternative to contractors and permanent employees, especially in a tough economic environment.

Over twenty years experience...

Transformation specialist

Leading and supporting digital transformation initiatives is the central focus of my career. From front-end customer experience enhancements and new value propositions to foundational back-end capability enhancements including platform upgrades and data migration.

Cross-functional expertise

Primarily a specialist in business analysis and project management, my work has spanned the cross-functional spectrum of digital delivery, including product management and change management.

Diverse industry experience

I have delivered digital capabilities across a broad range of industries including healthcare, loyalty programs, retail/FMCG, property, financial services, technology and telecommunications.

Agile and ready

I was fortunate to experience Agile transformation as part of the teams at WooliesX and Ramsay Health Care. I'm Agile ready, but not wedded to a specific methodology. My approach is to employ the right tool for the job, be it Agile, Waterfall or a hybrid of both.

Why hire freelance?

Keeping pace with digital innovation and progressing with your digital transformation strategy is still a business critical activity - even in an economic downturn. Engaging a freelancer allows companies to stay competitive and streamline costs while still having access to necessary resource to support and drive your digital transformation roadmap.

Freelancers allow you to scale your workforce up or down as needed, while only paying for time where real, productive work is being done. This avoids:

  • Paying staff who are under-utilised due to changes in project scope or budgets

  • Paying to retain staff at slower times of year or while business strategy and project portfolios are still being defined (and are in flux)

Cost transparency and savings

Paying permanent employees and contractors for unutilised time can add up quickly and significantly. The freelance model ensures you are only billed for actual productive output. Timesheets and utilisation summaries provide full transparency on all activity, allowing you to manage project budgets more effectively.

No long-term commitment

Freelancers offer the greatest flexibility to engage the right resource on an 'on-demand' and 'as-needed' basis. You are not responsible for the broader commitments of engaging permanent team members or for keeping contractors on the books when the workload or budget no longer justifies their retention.

Fresh perspective

An outside view combined with your intimate knowledge of your business can be a powerful combination. Freelancers bring external insights and ideas that can cast a new light for solving challenges or add an additional layer to a new project or capability.

Faster deliverables

As a freelancer, I have to prove my mettle by learning your business and strategic objectives quickly while building solid relationships with your team. My core responsibility is to return your investment by delivering high-quality work with quick turnaround.

Hello,

And thank you for taking the time to visit. I’m Tamara Lyster, a freelance Project Manager and Business Analyst with deep experience in digital transformation.

We’re all under no illusion about the state of our economy. Businesses and employers need to apply deep scrutiny to how digital budgets are being spent and how resource is being engaged. Digital delivery professionals need to think differently about how we approach the job market to ensure we add tangible value and demonstrate / deliver clear results. Digital transformation still needs to happen – but capabilities need to be built faster and leaner than ever. There’s no room for fluff or budget ‘fat.’ Working with a freelancer could be the ideal alternative to permanent or contract resource to build and deliver your next digital project. Engage specialist expertise when you need it, but only pay for actual, productive time.

My longer-term goal is to build a small consulting firm that specialises in world-class digital project management and business analysis. For now, I'm a team of one. I won't pretend to be bigger than I am. No pretense. Just clear communication, transparency and quick turnaround. I'd love to chat about how a freelance engagement could be the right solution to your project delivery needs.
